My handy-husband, John:
My oldest, my only daughter, Frannie (Yes, she got her name from my given middle name):
My oldest son, the jack-of-all-trades, Tom:
My sweet Charlie:
And last, but definitely not least (he’ll not be overlooked, dammit), Eddie:
That’s the gang I live with and love unconditionally.
We live in Pittsburgh, PA. This is where both John and I grew up- him in the city, me in the suburbs. It’s won tons of awards, mostly because it is a great place to raise a family. It has a small town feel, but with big city assets.
And just in case you’re wondering at the mention of Pittsburgh, yes, it is a mandate to be a Steeler fan here.
My given name before the whole marriage-new-name deal, was Amy Frances Laquinta. Now, I go by Amy Laquinta Kovach (as Emily Post would have me do, cause I do everything the proper way – HAH!)
That all being said, I gave my first child my middle name, Frances. It is special to me as I was named for a friend of my Mom and Dad’s who died in Vietnam just before I was born. Francis “Skip” Murphy was his name.
I may have changed my name due to tradition, but in my mind, I will always be Amy Frances – so that’s the name I gave to my site.
I grew up here in a red brick house on a red brick street with two brothers and a sister, a dog, and a cat. I walked to school. My Mom stayed home during the day while we were all in school. My Dad was a dentist. Sounds idyllic and boring, but everyone has their disfunctions.
My goal is to give my kids just as “boring” and simple an upbringing. We try to avoid the disfunction, but chaos reigns supreme around here. My Mom is always afraid to ask what’s up cause I just might tell her.
We do have a lake cottage where things are a bit simpler and easier. It is where we re-group from the going, going, going that we do the rest of the year. Here’s a pic of our cottage. As well, the picture on my Homepage is of our lake- Conneaut Lake in northeast Pennsylvania.
I have an eclectic set of interests, hobbies, and dreams. Hopefully, you’ll get a comprehensive idea of who I am if you read this blog.
I hope to include some crafting/sewing projects, some renovation projects, some parenting dilemmas, including plenty of opinions/advice you’re welcome to ignore, many things I’m grateful to have in my life, and even a little politics thrown in.
Thanks for checking it out. Hope I have something for you to enjoy!
